Map Locations of the BUYS FamiliyPioneers of Columbia County, New York.
This is an extraction from aColumbia County Map for the area of Livingston, Claremont, andGermantown, taken from actual surveys of the area in 1795. Themap was first published in 1798.
- The top star on map indicates the location of the Rudolph Buys farm, as indicated from the following record:
Rudolph Buise appears on the Livingston Tenants 1789-1808; (1799-1808), listed as having 70 acres and 45 acres on road from Fite Miller to Ancram, 2 miles from Miller.
- Note: Fite Miller's farm appears just northwest of Rudolph Buys property.
- The southwest star is possibly the location of Rudolph's son, Jacob Buy's, father of John Boice and grandfather of Stephen V. Boyce. (See Buys Family Tree) Notice that a Jacobie is living next door, near Charlotte Lake. The other possibility is that this may be the property of Thomas Hendrick Boice, son of Jan Buys and Anna Elisabetha Kuhn.
- Charlotte Lake today is called Lake Taghkanic.
